Meet the Garland-Taylors.
This small family business is based in the beautiful Hope Valley - in the Peak District National Park.
James has been making jewellery and working with metal since he was a small boy but only recently started selling his work. His designs are inspired by the natural and breathtaking beauty of the surrounding park and often incorporate pieces that he's collected while out and about on adventures with his two boys.
The son of a former blacksmith, James is largely self taught in the art of jewellery making. His skills and techniques are very traditional, with every piece being crafted to order by hand, which means that no two pieces of his jewellery are ever completely the same.
James shares the business with his partner Kate, who having spent many years working in the sales and hospitality sectors, is a natural when it comes to introducing their work and building relationships with customers and clients.
As well as producing her own range of jewellery, Kate manages the business and attends all of the events at which they exhibit.
Kate's designs are a real departure from James natural forms. She focuses on bold statement geometerics and massive pops of colour - getting her inspiration from the world of fashion.
Although the range that you see here on the website is mainly made using silver and is 'craft led' in it's design and manufacture, James also undertakes a great deal of bespoke 'fine jewellery' work.
A large part of the business is dedicated to designing and producing wedding and engagement rings - from the timelessly classical to the totally individual. Able to work skillfully in any metal and source and set beautiful stones, both James and Kate work with clients to advise on and design pieces that are not only beautiful but also functional and able to withstand everything that life has to throw at them.
